Laying Footings

With a little help from a good buddy Kev was able to accomplish most of what he set out to do today - lay the footings. Mike Huscroft came down to pay us a little visit and throw in a hand at doing some foundation work:) We won't say no to help!! You'll notice in the photo below that Mike is the only one working... and is that a shovel he's got?? What a trooper! Still hard at work... ...while others are hardly working(!) Talk about typical management. Whose house is this anyway??? Okay, okay. Kevin was actually "discussing" technicalities with his framing buddy to make sure everything was correct, so if it means a level house we'll let him off the hook (this time). Daddy had some help eating his lunch:) He even had someone to ensure the safety of all the dirt piles around the lot! Stay tuned for more updates, hopefully at least every weekend!

31 weeks large

Had my second ultrasound today (31 weeks along). I was told that the placenta is exactly where it should be and everything looks great! :) We saw the cutest chubby cheeks and button nose, which practically took up the whole screen as baby is much larger than the first ultrasound. She said the baby currently weighs 4lbs 1oz, and gains (on average) 30g/day from now until birth. I figured out that if this baby is "average" he/she will weigh approximately 7lbs 8oz when born. However - we all know that Atalie was NOT that small and I am NOT looking like I'm about to have a small baby... so we'll see:) But on the other hand, I have currently gained half the weight I gained last pregnancy and well, it's nice to dream of a small baby! What the heck aye? Why not. Mommy's little helper got right in on the action while folding laundry today:) Our little noodle made the biggest mess yet at dinner, with her stirfry and noodles... need I say more... She can't seem to get enough of her books! She loves pictures of animals and likes to hear Mom and Dad make all the noises that go along with each animal... over, and over, and over, and over. But how can you resist when she cuddles right in???

Excavating begins!

Well today we finally got a hole dug in the ground! It's exciting and scary all at the same time. We now have a piece of land with a hole in it... hmm... kinda committed now huh? :)

cutie pie, strawberry pie

Okay, let's all be honest inspite of our biases (is that a word??). Is this not thee cutest little girl you've EVER seen?????? Yes! Atalie has gotten into a habbit of grabbing the phone and running around with it tucked into her neck and saying, "hi, hi, hi, hi...". I've had to take it away b/c of a growing concern of her accidentally dialing 911 or something, so now she grabs the remotes and does the same thing with them. If I try to take it away or ask her to "please give it to Mommy", she lets out a hilarious shriek and runs like mad! :) I just had to display my delictible creations:) Lately I've been running low on building-type projects (phonecalling, budgeting, etc.) and have become rather bored at home all day (it's been either rainy or too hot to walk very far, being as pregnant as I'm feeling)... so I thought I'd make use of the time! The first is one of two loaves of chocolate chip banana bread, which is NOT good to have around the house when home all day; the next is a loaf of whole wheat bread, thanks to my bread machine (it's like a grown-up easy-bake!); and the last is a delicious strawberry pie, which I hope tastes as delicious as it looks. DANG I'm good!! Okay, realizing my huge ego, I'll have to pause and give thanks to my Mother, who seems to have passed on the genes for yummy baked goods! Thanks Ma!

Little monkey

Atalie has taken a liking to her little blue sunglasses, which are still a little too big;) She doesn't like to wear them longer than 10 seconds though b/c they're too much fun to play with - so I keep them by her change table as a nice distraction:) She's also taken a liking to her new-found skill of walking. Infact, she took a big crash today... she was bee-lining it across the kitchen floor (lino) and fell face first, shmucking her head (face down) on the hard floor. At first she lay there, no movement, for about 10 seconds with her legs and arms straight out, then let out a little cry, and once we picked her up she had about a 15 second breath in... a loooong calm before the storm to follow... she's okay to say the least:) It's one of many to come anyway. Poor little chicken! Anyway, here's some pics of her before the big spill.

Basement Suite

As mentioned in the below post, we recently moved to a new place in town. It's only a 1bedroom basement suite and has no bathtub but rather a teeny tiny shower in a teeny tiny bathroom... makes things interesting with one little one, never mind the thought of two! Here's a few pics for those who are curious.
