"Can you GIVE it a SECOND to get back from SPACE?!!"

Comedian Louis CK talks about how "Everything is amazing, nobody's happy". Couldn't have said it better myself. Truely!! I realize my ability to be impatient with the "world" today, however I have a real frusteration with people who take so much in their lives for granted. EVERYTHING is a blessing and we really don't deserve any of it. I'm going to avoid going off on a tangent here and just send you to this video link instead;) Click on the underlined words above.

A bed frame?!!!!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, my husband is building me a bed frame!! Yeah!!!!! Here's a pic of what we want to do. This bed frame actually has a large slab of copper in the centre of the head/foot boards but we'll be using vertical T&G (tongue and groove) boards. We decided to go with fir for the frame and pine T&G for the centre. Also, I wouldn't mind having some contrast in colour, so we might stain the fir slightly darker than natural and keep the pine all natural... we'll see. Another difference from this picture is the size aspect. I think the bed shown here is a King size - we have a Queen, so we've chosen wood which is slighly smaller. The bed posts shown are 6x6" but we'll be using 4x4". So the wood has been purchased and I'm anxious to see it begin:) I'll update when I can!

Time for a cleanse!

Yes, that time has come! My first and previous cleanse was just after Thanksgiving last year (3.5 months ago). I think I will look into doing the Colonix cleanse and I think I'll drag Kevin into it with me:) Based on what I've been reading, you can go about your regular day and diet without timing, or waiting around for, trips to the bathroom. Mind you, there is suggested food which complements a cleanse (organic fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds) and foods to minimize/avoid while cleansing (red meats, cured meats, organ meats, refined foods, canned foods, sugar, salt, saturated fats, coffee, alcohol, food additives, colorings and preservatives), b/c of of course you don't want to be adding toxins while you're attempting to get rid of them (common sense). It's overall a very gentle, natural and very effective product. Infact, I've searched and searched and haven't found anything negative about it... and to top it off, purchasing a two month supply (recommended time frame for first-timers) for two people will bring the price down by about 45% ($55pp/mo)! Anybody want to cleanse along with us?? :) By the time we save up a few dollars and actually receive the product, our start date might be about a month away... Let me know - seriously! Check out the FAQ page for common questions.

Googly Eyes

Atalie colours (and makes faces) with the little girl I babysit (4 days a week)... way too cute not to whip out the camera;) One of a hundred Atalie faces... She makes this cross-eyed face at supper time to make us laugh... The first time she did it she added a little bobble-head wobble and did a goofy sound to go with it. We nearly doubled over laughing! Kevin could hardly eat his supper he was laughing so hard... infact, I haven't seen him laugh that hard in years, literally!! :) (you get the full effect in the pic below, minus the sound effects of course) hahaha, i'm so silly! ;)

Sleepless Nights no more!

Soooooo, we bit the bullet. Didn't want to bite this bullet for a few more years, but it seems the time has come. Our old bed mattress had been giving Kevin some back problems for awhile and they seemed to be getting worse in the past couple months. Each morning I'd wake up to groaning and moaning and, "oh my baaaaack... I hate this bed." So I made it my mission to pray for a new mattress every night. We noticed a huge sale on mattresses a few weeks ago and although we had missed one of the big sales, we decided to do some research by checking out the mattresses and see what would be suitable for us. This way we could keep our eyes peeled for a good deal on a specific mattress or two. We got to The Brick in Cranbrook and the lady who was helping us said she would make an acception to the old sale and allow us to have the mattress we really like at half price, if we so chose. We had a little intermission and decided that: 1) it may be wise to take advantage of the opportunity before us; and 2) with the savings in gas (kev works in town now and can walk to work!) and savings in income tax with the new budge proposal, we could make monthly payments towards this bed and still be okay. So, today was D-day! The delivery guys brought it in and my jaw dropped! I knew it was big - but I didn't know it was THIS BIG!! We decided on the Sealy "Crown Jewel Colllection: Posturepedic Eclipse Plush Queen Mattress Set" (long name I know). It is gargantuous!!!!!! It also doesn't help that we received the regular size boxspring instead of the half size, as it will be about 6" lower once we receive the correct one. Tada! After laying on it for awhile I came to the conclusion that people who normally buy new beds like this have rooms four times the size as ours and matching bedroom furniture twice the size as ours, and that some day our bed might look like it belongs in our bedroom --- but not today. And that's okay because tonight will be the best sleep of our lives!!!!! I did contemplate the chances of being able to touch the ceiling while laying there however... Enjoy it while you can kiddo, b/c there's no flippin way you'll be able to climb into our bed anymore! hehehe.... :) Until now we've been in a Double size bed - so what seems normal to most is PURE LUXURY to us:) Six extra gorious inches to roam freeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!! ;) Atalie fell backwards when her feet actually hit the ground. Who would have imagined a bed to be a hazzard?! Also, I guess I have to invest in a bedskirt now... rk. I'm not fond of them. They seem like dust collectors to me. However, Kevin is going to build us a rustic bed frame for our new bed so perhaps that will solve some of the problem (the plastic is still on the boxspring b/c it's being returned when the smaller one is delivered). She's lucky she can even see over the top of it:) haha... I'm enjoying this way too much I know.

Day 2 in panties ;)

Hee hee. That's right. But not me. Atalie. Monday was Day 1 in class "Hardcore Pee Potty Training 101". I figured it was time to rid ourselves of one child (worth) of diapers. She'll be 3 years old in 1.5 months, she uses the potty regularily and willingly when she has to poop and she hates to be unclean. I figured if I let her figure it out she'd eventually just go with it. Turns out that old habits die hard... yesterday she had a total of 3 accidents (BIG wet ones) and 3 successes (soley due to constant reminders) ; today is only half over and already she's had 3 accidents and 2 successes. I ran out of easy-to-pull-up elastic waist pants (was prepared with 7 pairs at the beginning) and therefor was forced to do the pile of laundry sitting in the closet. I guess that's a good thing. Also, I'm down one pair of pants for Atalie b/c our stupid dog got ahold of them while she was in for 5 minutes to eat her supper yesterday (I won't get into that). Anyway, Atalie seems to like the novelty of using the potty and being rewarded with chocolate chips, so I'm simply taking advantage of it! However, I have to be the initiator every 20 minutes or so b/c although she's enjoying being a "big girl!" in her new Strawberry Shortcake & Princess panties, she doesn't yet think to run to the bathroom when she has to pee... so there you have it. Our little girl is growing up!

You know you're from a small small small (and a little bit hick) town when....

...the headline in the "Community Newsletter" reads: "WILDERNESS CLUB HUNTERS - Please bring antlers and skulls to be scored in the trophy competition." (the pictures have nothing to do with each blurp, they just suit the redneck theme well) Here's some more goodies from the latest weekly newsletter: "Family Movie Night. Everyone welcome." "Community Crib Tournament - $50 for the top score" "Adult Bible Study: Join us Sundays at the Civic Centre." "DOTS DINER Winter Hours: " (enough said) "Dog Control Officer Cell#" One person's "For Sale" listing under classifed section: Dodge Ram, Briggs & Stratton Motor, Utility Trailer, Plow & Mounts for Polaris Quad, Homelite Chainsaw, Husquavarna Chainsaw..." "FOR SALE: Beautiful Moduline Home" (and I have nothing against modulines b/c we were originally going to buy one before deciding to build... it's just hilariously typical of our town!!) Personalized add for "GARBAGE PICK-UP Once a week $40/month" I should explain that we don't have garbage pick-up. Everybody typically loads up their pickup trucks with their garbage and dog and drives down to the dump, waving as we pass our neighbors, all doing the same:)
