Buckey Rod Ruggles. The most generous, faithful friend one could hope to have. It's hard to believe we're going home today not to see you but to say goodbye. We're happy for you to be celebrating new life. We're regretful of time yet unspent with you. We wanted to grow old with you and Leah and watch our kids play together. You would have made an awesome Dad! We look forward to seeing you in your son/daughter when he/she arrives in a couple of months:) and will be sure to tell them all the stories of you when they grow up! We miss you so much. See you in a bit buddy.

Kids. Not for the faint of heart...

... nor is this picture so close your eyes if poop bothers you (and my apologies ahead of time). I wanted to show everyone what Kevin, the faintest of heart (when it comes to stink and mess), endured to clean up allll by himself!!! We had our very first (hopefully last!) experience with poop in the tub. It was gross. Atalie is learning to use her potty and usually tells us when she has to poop (pee isn't a high enough priority to stop for when playing apparently), and had done exactly that last night. However she had more than she thought and round two came in the bathtub. Lucky Kevin was handling the bathtime that time. However he wasn't so lucky when Aiden kept trying to pull out the poop from the toilet, which Kevin had just transfered from the bathtub. **sigh********* We couldn't let them run around the house with poop water all over their slippery little bodies so it presented some challenges. Oh, I also found round three on the floor, tucked behind her potty today. We are wondering if perhaps Aiden picked it up out of her potty and dropped it just before being plunged into the tub. Good gosh. We'll never know. Atalie is almost 2.5 years old and still needs (wants) her soother at night. She has clung to this thing since DAY 3 and she's had it long enough. I have avoided this day quite a few times, for a few reasons (mostly b/c it was a form of comfort for her with developed insecurities and fears but also served greatly during teething when younger) but see no reason for her to keep it any longer. So, I cut a hole in her soother. She has two actually and the first one I slit a little hole to "ease the pain" but we lost that one and I thought I'd try a different technique for the second soother. I heard you can cut the tip off and thought I'd give it a try. The poor girl has been wrestling and crying her way to sleep for her nap and bedtime today. What a battle! I actually feel bad for her. She's quite attached to it, as silly as it seems to us adults, but it's been her source of comfort her whole life. The first thing she said when she saw the new hole was, "My sooser!" I replied, (**gasp**) "Is it broken?!?" She says, "Yes! It's broken! My sooser is broken!" repeatedly. I try to blow it off by saying, "Oh dear. It's okay. Put it in your mouth and let's go lay down." "It's broken!" she continues, "You fix it???", with big teary blue eyes. "No sweety, I can't fix it." She pursists, "Can Daddy fix it???" "No sweety, Daddy can't fix it either. It's really broken." I replied. This went on for some time and eventually she fell asleep. I heard her talking to Kevin at bedtime this evening and she said, "Daddy my sooser is broken! Mommy can't fix it. It's broken." Poor girl!!

Invermere Farmers Market

If you've wondered what I boast (or rather complain) about being so busy for this summer, here's why: Every week I bake 8 dozen cinnamon buns (half white, half 50% whole wheat), 2 dozen banana chocolate chip muffins, 40(+) - 9" pies and 30(+) - 4" pies. The pies, mind you, are prepared and frozen so all I do is bake them... however that alone takes about 12 hours and has to be done the day previous to market day and the house often reaches over 30 degrees(C). Here's some pics from the summer so far. cooling... Tada! my "pie" room in the basement, where I store everything "market" related. Fuzzy picture but here's me in my booth of baking:) Helping a nice paying customer;)

Hair doooo :)

Our neighbors are a family of friendly Calgarians who use their home on weekends or for a couple weeks vacation time - which they're here for now. She owns (owned - just sold it to buy this vacation home) a salon in the city and is an excellent hair stylist. She's offered a few times to cut my hair and I figured that since she's here for a good two weeks, what better time to accept?! I had her neaten up the hair style my last stylist attempted (who gave it a good try to say the least) and throw in a semi-permanent home dye as well. Yea:) It always feels good to neaten up ones look, wouldn't you agree?? (i probably should have straightened the long pieces after drying it today but figured "who cares" when I'm just home with kids all day)

Aiden and his fork...and all the spaghetti.

Kevin is enjoying our new patio set, compliments of a refund for some fencing we returned... probably should have gone straight into the bank account, but... Aiden actually took advantage of his newly discovered utensil. He kinda jiggled it back and forth in his bowl until he scooped up some spaghetti... the voyage from his bowl to mouth was a different story however. At least he tried:) Gave it a good go too!!

Nana & Papa, Atalie & Aiden

Girl... (getting ready to meet Nana & Papa for dinner, just before the rainstorm and a change into more practical clothes) ...Boy (had just been eating dirt previous to this picture - it's much easier just to let him splash himself clean than try to wipe him off!!) He'll chase these things all day long:) Mom & Dad with Aiden (we blew bubbles to get his attention and a little smile) Three gen-pic.
